- Make a list of all positive things about yourself – Everything good you have done, compliments you have received, skills you have, situations you are confident in and things you like to do that are positive are all things you should put on your list of ‘strong points about yourself’.
- Pick 1 or 2 things to work on – If you try and apply self-confidence to all areas you desire to improve in at once you may be overwhelmed or discourage. Choose 1 or 2 areas of your life that you want to increase your confidence in. Visualize exactly how you want to be in the future. Your goal has to be well defined to success in anything. Then go to a deep level of relaxation or meditation and repeat affirmations and do a visualization of how you want to act and behave in your chosen situation.
- Pretend till it become real – This is the most important aspect of adopting new attitudes. If you pretend to be confident you will be more confident. If you keep pretending you will do better in every situation where you need greater confidence. Your successes (which you should list) will increase your confidence automatically till you are not pretending anymore. This is like a never ending cycle of improvement.
